My Kids, The Cartographers

I’ve been working on a new fantasy campaign setting over the past year, and given that I’m one of those “world builder” GMs, I’m currently in the process of plotting out historical population movements using multiple copies of the same map. Don’t judge me, I enjoy this type of stuff. Anyway, last night I had just started working on one of the maps when my son came into the room.

‘Where is the giant’s castle?” He asked. He knows about my love of maps, and knows that what I’m working on is a map.

“Giant’s castle?” I reply.

“Yes. Where Jack and the beanstalk are.”

I realized that he wanted to know where the giant’s cloud castle was on the map. On the eastern edge of the map I drew a castle up in the clouds with a generously sized beanstalk connecting it to the ground. He asked for the map and after I gave it to him he took it into the living room to show his mom.

Today, his little sister got hold of the map and decided that it should be in color rather than grey scale. She actually did a pretty good job considering how detailed it is:
