Today proved to be very special. I managed to be awake when the kids got up and witnessed Joey’s first reaction: He ran out of his bedroom and into the living room and exclaimed, “Look at all this stuff!” The kids had an enormous quantity of gifts to open, shipped from far and wide to eventually reach us in Wisconsin. Back in New Jersey, we would visit with my parents and siblings separately, so the gifts came in dribs and drabs. This year, everything was piled under the tree. We decided not to rush them with opening the gifts and as a result there were many left to open at the end of the day. I think they enjoyed the slow pace, as they got to really play with each toy (see photos).
