Splashing at Aunt Cathy’s

The family spent the afternoon over at my sister Cathy’s house, playing with her innumerable toys and using as much water as we could manage. I took a number of photos that almost didn’t make it home. We forgot to bring the camera case with all the extra memory, so when I filled up the flash card in the camera, I had to go back and delete a few photos. As I’m deleting one of the photos, I realized with a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that not only did am I deleting the selected photo, I’m also deleting the rest of them. A few subvocalized obscenities later, and I’m mentally going over how to recover the photos.

After returning home and trying a few free recovery tools, including LDE which doesn’t seem to handle FAT12 very well, I finally purchased a photo recovery tool. The one I settled upon was Photo Rescue by DataRescue. The price wasn’t too steep, $29, and it did the job. Years ago, I would have been able to use a free undelete command for this sort of thing, but now I have to shell out money. Oh well, guess that’s the price of progress. (By the way, if you know of a free tool, please tell me.)

The photos from the day may be found in this album. I hope you’ll agree that they were worth saving from the waste bin. By the way, Joey put the blue funnel on his head with no help from The Wizard of Oz, he naturally thought it was a blue hat. Also, don’t mention Maggie’s leopard print dress, it was a loaner after she soaked the dress she was wearing.
